After high school, I spent two years in Wellington, New Zealand at Massey University studying a Bachelor of Screen Arts. Here, I learned the ins and outs of creating content from pre production to post and anywhere from short form content to documentary. I worked on many exciting projects with fellow classmates and learned a lot about my preffered ways of filmmaking. After producing impressive grades, I finished my second year and decided that the university setting wasn’t providing me with the style of learning I wanted. Instead of paying to do lots of book work and essays (although I learned plenty), I wanted to move to more of a hands-on work style and find a project that I can pour my heart into.
During university, while juggling many projects I took up a role of Set Dresser at a local production company. I used my newfound techniques to decorate a building's interior for a pilot episode of a science fiction show. This role provided me with a great experience and confirmed my feelings of wanting to leave university to follow my own path. Shortly after this job and finishing my second year at university, I moved to Tasmania. There I worked on an indie feature film as a Production Assistant and 2nd AD. I managed crew and cast and organised cross country transport as well as accommodation and catering. On set I managed props and wrangled the cast and crew. I have since worked as a camera operator for a live sporting event and also a social media video editor. I love being versatile when it comes to creating content.
These experiences have equipped me with valuable skills that can be applied across many production departments. I am constantly on the lookout for my next project.
A bit extra...
I was born in Scotland and moved to New Zealand with my family at a young age. As a child I was always fascinated with the art of filmmaking. You would often find me bossing my siblings around in front of the camera to create short films. This love for film would quickly become clear.
Growing up without TV meant that I had plenty of time to watch a LOT of movies.
